The pants are fine but think your sizing is so out of kilter with NZ. I take 8 in some brands and 10 in others. I know you are on the small side so I ordered 12 to be safe. Could only just get them up over my hips. Couldn’t be bothered exchanging them even though they are a bit small for me. Just not nz sizing.
